Death threats against Balkan political and media figures

Overview

Political and media figures in the Balkan region have reported receiving death threats and harassment.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finance Minister Adil Šuta reported threats allegedly linked to political disputes over a waste management plan. Simultaneously, in Serbia, the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) reported that journalists Marko Vidojković and Nenad Kulačin were targeted with coordinated death threats via Instagram.

In Montenegro, the Bosniak Party requested urgent state intervention and security for its president, Ervin Ibrahimović, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The party reported a wave of online threats involving calls for his expulsion, as well as threats of torture and murder against him and his family. The leadership noted that the online rhetoric included incitement of national, racial, and religious hatred.
