Death threats against Italian political and military figures

Overview

In late July 2026, Futuro Nazionale regional coordinator Emanuele Pozzolo reported death threats on Facebook targeting him and his family. The incident was accompanied by physical unrest in Taranto, where a group of approximately fifteen people damaged a movement information gazebo.

By late August, similar patterns of online intimidation emerged involving high-ranking military figures. Lieutenant Colonel Gianfranco Paglia, an advisor to the Italian Defense Minister, received death threats on social media following comments regarding Futuro Nazionale leader Roberto Vannacci. Defense Minister Guido Crosetto condemned the threats, stating that while dissent is legitimate, such intimidation “represents a crossing of a line that cannot be tolerated.” Paglia has indicated he will pursue legal action.
