Decathlon retail expansion in Europe

In Oberhausen, Germany, the retailer is constructing a flagship store at the Centro shopping center on a former steelworks site. Scheduled to open in mid-October 2026, the facility will include a 4,000-square-meter sales area, a 500-square-meter outdoor testing area, and a green facade with an integrated irrigation system.

Additionally, Decathlon is opening its first store in northern Luxembourg at the Massen Shopping Center in Weiswampach on September 26. Located near the Belgian and German borders, the 1,050-square-meter site aims to serve the Luxembourgish Ardennes and surrounding regions. Regional director Nicolas Deltenre noted that the new site fills a “clear white spot on the map” for local residents and tourists. The store will focus on outdoor activities, offer a bicycle workshop, and employ staff capable of assisting customers in French, German, and English.
