Delhi Metro anti-government propaganda investigation

Overview

Authorities are investigating a series of incidents involving anti-government propaganda and property defacement on the Delhi Metro’s Airport Express Line.

On October 20, a train operator discovered black-and-white posters on a seat during an inspection. The posters featured slogans such as ‘Voting Protest’ and ‘Dissatisfied? You Are Not Alone,’ alongside nine claims regarding national changes and a QR code for an online group. Delhi Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act and the Metro Railway Act to identify those responsible.

On October 24, further incidents of defacement were reported at the Shivaji Stadium Metro Station, including unauthorized posters near an emergency gate and black ink writing on a wall. The IGI Airport Metro Police have booked an unidentified individual in connection with the markings found near Gate No. 7 and posters near Emergency Gate No. 5.

Investigators, including the Delhi Police Special Cell, are examining whether these acts constitute a larger conspiracy. Former Delhi Police DCP LN Rao stated that the investigation aims to determine the identity of those responsible, their instructions, and their underlying motives.
