Delphine Aussaguel murder investigation
Overview
Following a confession from Cédric Jubillar, who admitted to strangling his wife, Delphine Aussaguel, in December 2020, police resumed excavations in the Mailhoc area of the Tarn department. Investigators aimed to locate skeletal fragments, specifically the skull, to determine the cause of death.
A crime reenactment was conducted where Jubillar, who was previously sentenced to 30 years in prison, mimed the act of strangling his wife and indicated the location where he claimed to have hidden the body. During these subsequent excavations in an unexplored section of a field, new bones were discovered. These remains have been sent to the Institut de recherche criminelle de la gendarmerie nationale (IRCGN) for forensic analysis to confirm if they belong to Delphine Aussaguel.
On October 2, 2026, a judicial reconstruction involving approximately 150 gendarmes took place in Cagnac-les-Mines and Mailhoc. During the three-and-a-half-hour process, Jubillar mimed the strangulation and indicated a location where he claimed to have hidden the body under a mound of soil. This search led to the discovery of new remains, potentially including a tibia fragment, in a previously unsearched section of the field. While these findings are undergoing scientific analysis to confirm their identity, investigators noted that significant questions remain regarding the exact circumstances of the crime.
