Delta State police crime enforcement operations

Overview

The Delta State Police Command has conducted a series of operations targeting drug trafficking, cultism, kidnapping, and violent crime.

In mid-September, police intercepted a vehicle transporting suspected Tramadol and military camouflage items, resulting in the arrest of a driver. During separate operations in Ika South and Aniocha North, authorities arrested six suspected members of the Neo Black Movement (Black Axe) Confraternity and recovered firearms, ammunition, and military gear.

By early October, police operations expanded to include hostage rescues and investigations into sexual assault and homicide. In Ughelli South, police rescued a woman held hostage and arrested a suspect, recovering a fabricated pistol. In another incident, a suspect was taken into custody following the sexual assault of a teenager. Additionally, two individuals were arrested in connection with a March 2026 killing linked to a dispute within the Aro Bagger confraternity.
