Recent efforts have coincided with the International Day against Dengue. In Entre Ríos, officials have highlighted that winter is a critical period for prevention, as Aedes aegypti eggs can survive low temperatures and hatch upon the arrival of spring. In La Rioja, health systems are actively monitoring for both dengue and chikungunya. Authorities in cities such as Buenos Aires, Paraná, and Oberá are conducting ‘descacharrización’ campaigns to eliminate potential breeding sites. Experts have noted that climatic phenomena like El Niño may increase rainfall and create more breeding grounds, though water scarcity can also increase risk through improper storage.
