Denmark immigration fiscal and demographic analysis

Data from the Danish Ministry of Finance has highlighted the fiscal and demographic impacts of immigration on the country. Fiscal evaluations indicate a significant divide in net contributions based on origin. While individuals of Western origin provide a net surplus of 11 billion DKK, immigrants and descendants from predominantly Muslim-majority nations account for a deficit of 27 billion DKK, contributing to a total net cost of approximately 16 billion DKK to public finances.

Further demographic projections suggest long-term shifts in population composition. If current net immigration levels remain constant, the proportion of the population of Danish origin is projected to decrease from 82.3 percent in 2030 to 68.9 percent by the year 2100. During this period, Western immigrants are expected to rise to 9.0 percent, while non-Western immigrants are projected to increase to 10.9 percent.

The Ministry of Finance noted that these figures represent a ‘mechanical scenario calculation’ rather than a formal forecast, as they do not account for potential future changes in migration policies or unpredictable global events.
