Denmark Oscar candidacy selection process
Overview
The Danish Film Institute has identified three films as candidates to represent Denmark in the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards. The contenders include ‘Hjem’ (also referred to as ‘Dom’), directed by Marijana Jankovic; ‘Dobbeltfejl’, directed by Amalie Næsby Fick; and ‘Kvinde ukendt’, directed by May el-Toukhy.
‘Hjem’ is a Danish-Serbian co-production and an intimate family drama following a young girl’s migration from Yugoslavia to Denmark. ‘Dobbeltfejl’ features lead roles by Sofie Gråbøl and Sidse Babett Knudsen and centers on an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy.
The Danish Oscar Committee is scheduled to announce the final official submission from these three candidates on September 25.
