Denmark rail service operational changes

Overview

Denmark’s rail service has undergone significant operational changes involving infrastructure repairs and service expansions. Initially, DSB faced service disruptions, including train cancellations and the use of bus replacements, due to track work on the Vestfyn and Slagelse–Ringsted lines. Banedanmark indicated that these sections were expected to be ready for regular regional and intercity service by 16 August.

Following these repairs, DSB is set to expand its operations by taking over rail services from GoCollective in Midt- and West Jutland, as well as on the Svendborg line. As part of this transition, the number of daily direct train services between Struer and Copenhagen will double from four to eight departures in each direction starting 13 December. The Ministry of Transport noted that this increase aims to improve regional connectivity and bolster rail traffic within existing economic frameworks.
