Overview
British citizens Lindsay and Craig Foreman remain detained in Tehran’s Evin Prison after being sentenced to 10 years on espionage charges, which they and their family deny. The couple was originally arrested in January 2025 during a motorcycle trip to Australia.
In September 2026, supporters held a motorcycle rally in London to mark more than 600 days of their detention. During the rally, family members described the situation as “hostage-taking” and “arbitrary detention,” calling for political action and a meeting with Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband.
Reports indicate that despite previous hunger strikes by the couple and assurances from authorities, they have not had regular contact with their family. The family is now requesting more frequent consular visits and a formal strategy for their release. The British Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has stated that the couple’s wellbeing is a “top priority” and that officials are working to provide consular assistance.
