Detention of Miyetti Allah leader Bello-Bodejo
Overview
Abdullahi Bello-Bodejo, the National President of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Fulani Sociocultural Association, has faced consecutive detentions by Nigerian security agencies.
Reports indicate that Bodejo was initially arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Taraba State following his declaration of intent to run for a senatorial seat. He was subsequently transferred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he remained in custody for nearly four months.
Upon meeting bail conditions set by a Federal High Court and being released from the EFCC, Bodejo was reportedly intercepted by DSS operatives in Abuja and rearrested. His family expressed concerns regarding his deteriorating health during this period of custody.
In response to his continued detention, the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has appealed to President Bola Tinubu and other high-ranking officials for intervention. The association stated they are not seeking to obstruct lawful investigations but requested that the matter be handled “fairly and in strict accordance with the constitution.”
