DGCCRF regulatory inspections in France
Overview
The French Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) has conducted various inspection campaigns targeting different sectors to ensure regulatory compliance.
In the food sector, audits of over 4,800 professionals involved in organic products between 2024 and 2025 revealed significant irregularities. Approximately 15.5% of inspected professionals faced corrective or repressive measures, including over 650 injunctions and more than 130 criminal reports. Fraudulent practices included misrepresenting non-organic products as organic, using prohibited additives, and failing to provide required certifications or origin information.
In the healthcare sector, an inspection of 1,100 providers found that 39% failed to meet patient information obligations. Dentists were notably impacted, with 189 receiving injunctions and approximately 30 facing fines or criminal reports. Violations included failing to display service prices, lacking information on social security reimbursements, and failing to provide standardized quotes or traceability for implants. Some dental prostheses were also falsely marketed as being of ‘French origin’.
