Digital initiatives in Tierra del Fuego

Overview

The province of Tierra del Fuego has implemented two distinct digital initiatives aimed at public safety and education.

In mid-October, the Banco de Tierra del Fuego (BTF) launched a series of community workshops titled ‘Digital Threats: When Technology Enhances Deception.’ Led by specialist Emiliano Piscitelli, the program focuses on educating the public about cybercrime, including identity theft and the use of artificial intelligence to automate scams such as phishing and voice cloning.

Following this, the provincial government introduced a digital platform designed for wildfire prevention. Developed by the Ministry of Production and Environment, the tool provides residents and tourists in Ushuaia, Tolhuin, and Río Grande with real-time data on wind, temperature, and daily fire danger indices to help prevent forest fires.
