Dino supermarket labor dispute in Poland
Overview
The trade union OPZZ Konfederacja Pracy has announced a general strike against the Polish supermarket chain Dino, scheduled for December 20 to December 23. The union is engaged in two collective disputes with the company, seeking wage increases, the establishment of a Social Benefits Fund, increased staffing, and improved working conditions. Additional demands include better temperature control in stores and an end to using surveillance monitoring to control work pace.
Following the strike announcement, union members held a three-hour picket at the company’s headquarters in Krotoszyn. Union chairman Wojciech Jendrusiak reported that representatives were denied a meeting with company officials during an attempt to discuss wages and working conditions. In response to the failed dialogue, organizers have reaffirmed their readiness to proceed with the nationwide strike.
