Diourbel domestic violence investigation

Overview

In the Sessène neighborhood of Diourbel, Senegal, authorities launched an investigation following the death of a 29-year-old upholsterer, A. Mboup, and the injury of his wife, A. C. Sène.

Sène was hospitalized after reporting that her husband attacked her while she was sleeping, attempting to suffocate her and wounding her with a kitchen knife. Following the assault, Mboup was found dead in a nearby house. While investigators are considering suicide, they have noted suspicious injuries on his body, including marks on his neck. Prosecutor Amary Faye has ordered an autopsy at the Idrissa Pouye Hospital in Dakar to determine the cause of death and investigate potential motives related to domestic tensions.
