Disability rights advocacy in Tuzla Canton

Overview

The Moje pravo Network, a group of associations in Tuzla Canton, issued an open letter to Prime Minister Irfan Halilagić and the Cantonal Government demanding action on long-standing issues for children and persons with disabilities. The network highlighted a shortage of neuropediatricians at the University Clinical Center Tuzla, the need for subsidized transport, access to ABA therapy, and the fact that monthly financial assistance has not increased since October 2022.

The meeting focused on forming a working group to develop an Action Plan for implementing the federal strategy. Officials noted that transportation subsidies for persons with special needs are already in place and suggested that any increase in cash benefits would be evaluated during the 2027 budget planning process. Additionally, the Employment Service of Tuzla Canton agreed to increase the promotion of employment programs for persons with disabilities.
