Disappearance of MacDermid family in Edmonton
Overview
Authorities in Edmonton, Canada, have been searching for 42-year-old Scot MacDermid and his two children, nine-year-old Lesley and six-year-old George, who have been missing since August 28, 2026. The children were last seen with their father near the Manning Town Centre in Edmonton.
Initial investigations recovered MacDermid’s vehicle and cell phone within Canada, but no traces of the individuals were found. The children’s mother, Edilenia López Aquino, expressed concern that MacDermid might have traveled to the Dominican Republic due to his business ties in Puerto Plata.
Following the investigation, the Edmonton Police Service issued a Canada-wide warrant for MacDermid on two counts of abduction in contravention of a custody order. While the children were previously spotted in Lloydminster, and authorities suggested they might have been seen in Saskatchewan or Manitoba, their exact location remains unknown. Police stated that locating the children remains the top priority.
