Disney Grand Floridian infrastructure updates

Overview

Walt Disney World has been undergoing infrastructure and dining updates at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Earlier reports indicated that the Grand Floridian Café, closed for refurbishment since July, was expected to reopen in early November, and that roadway construction between the Magic Kingdom parking lot and the Polynesian Village Resort was approaching a new phase.

On September 10, a new permanent entrance for the resort opened, replacing temporary roads and barriers with a connection to a new northern roundabout on Floridian Way. While the entrance gate remains in its original location, the new navigation path has caused some confusion. Specifically, the exit from the northern roundabout is marked ‘Service and Authorized Vehicles Only.’ To assist drivers, Disney has implemented flashing LED signs to redirect guests toward the resort entrance via the old Floridian Way, where currently only the southbound lane remains open to vehicle traffic.
