Disney preparations for Super Bowl LXI

Overview

Disney and its subsidiaries are preparing for the broadcasting and promotion of Super Bowl LXI, scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium. This event marks the first time ESPN will produce the championship game.

Disney CFO Hugh Johnston previously announced that the company had already sold out its advertising inventory, involving 58 brands across 34 categories. The company continues to gauge interest from additional advertisers for 30-second slots valued between $10 million and $12 million.

The broadcast will be available via ABC and ESPN, with a Spanish-language broadcast on ESPN Deportes. Disney+ will provide live-streaming services to all subscribers in the United States and in over 55 international markets, including Brazil, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, and Spanish-speaking Latin America. To expand its NFL offerings, Disney+ will also stream select Monday Night Football games, such as the Dallas Cowboys at the Philadelphia Eagles on October 26. While Disney+ handles streaming, ESPN’s linear networks are expected to distribute the game in over 130 countries and territories.

Promotional efforts include the “We Are Going to Super Bowl LXI” sweepstakes by Disneyland Resort and ESPN, offering a grand prize of tickets, airfare, a hotel stay, and Park Hopper tickets. To enhance the viewing experience, Disney announced a Star Wars-themed animated alternate telecast titled ‘Star Wars Funday Football’ on Disney+, the ESPN App, Disney Channel, and Disney XD. Other alternative broadcasts include the ManningCast and a Pat McAfee Field Pass. Additionally, TKO Group Holdings has indicated plans are being developed for a potential relationship between WWE and Disney in 2027.
