Disney Savi’s Workshop lightsaber experience updates

Overview

Disney has implemented updates to the Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers experience at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge locations in Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World.

The updates include the introduction of a new ‘Protection and Defense’ hilt design, which utilizes white finishes, gold detailing, and symbols inspired by the High Republic era. The experience now features expanded options across four existing categories: Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature, and Protection and Defense.

Technical enhancements have been made to the lightsaber chassis and blades, providing improved audio, smoother activation, and new visual effects such as spinning, deflection, and thermal cutting. Additionally, new ‘cracked’ Kyber crystals have been introduced, which allow for a color-change effect via a wrist flick to represent the struggle between the light and dark sides of the Force.
