Disney theme park and cruise line expansion

Overview

The Walt Disney Company has initiated a large-scale expansion of its tourism and entertainment divisions. In late July 2026, the company announced a multi-decade, US$30 billion investment plan for its U.S. theme parks, scheduled to run through 2033. This plan involves major refurbishments and the introduction of new themed areas at Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Simultaneously, Disney is expanding its cruise division, with plans to grow its fleet to 13 ships by 2031. In August 2026, Disney Cruise Line revealed extensive global itineraries for 2027 and 2028. The Disney Fantasy will operate 46 sailings over 252 nights during the period spanning Fall 2027 through Spring 2028, departing from Port Canaveral, San Juan, and Fort Lauderdale to visit the Western, Eastern, and Southern Caribbean, as well as Bermuda. Pricing for two guests in a single stateroom varies, with a night-weighted average of approximately $642 for an inside stateroom and $1,562 for a concierge stateroom.

A key highlight is the return of the Disney Wish to New York City, which will sail from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal for seven itineraries between late September and early November 2027, visiting Bermuda, Canada, and New England. Following the release of these itineraries, demand has been reported as high, with certain stateroom categories selling out and prices for several New York sailings increasing. Additionally, the 12-night transatlantic route from Southampton to New York is currently fully booked.

Other fleet movements include the Disney Magic conducting two 14-day Panama Canal transits between San Diego and Galveston in late 2027 and early 2028, and the Disney Dream scheduled to visit Liverpool Cruise Port on September 9, 2026, for a sail-away celebration. The Disney Adventure continues to homeport in Singapore.
