Disney theme park holiday updates and attractions

Overview

Disney theme parks are implementing various holiday-themed updates and attraction changes for the upcoming season.

At Walt Disney World, the Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom is undergoing a significant reimagining scheduled for late spring 2027. This update will include new historical scenes covering the 1960s, 1980s, and the new millennium, alongside the return of voice actress Debi Derryberry as Grandmother. Seasonal overlays include ‘Lilypad’s Jams’ for Alien Swirling Saucers (November 4 through January 6), an ‘Obligatory Holiday Overlay’ for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and a holiday playlist for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT from November 25 through January 6. New holiday merchandise has also been introduced, including jewelry at Uptown Jewelers and collections for the Disney Jollywood Nights event.

At Disneyland Resort, crews have begun the annual holiday transformation of the ‘it's a small world’ attraction, including the installation of exterior Christmas lights. The ride is scheduled to close on October 30 to add festive elements, such as a large red Santa Claus hat on the building's clock face and holiday-themed animatronic outfits, with a planned reopening on November 13, 2026.

Additional preparations include Christmas Day parade filming at Walt Disney World, though Park Pass allotments for Magic Kingdom have already sold out for those dates. Other developments include a Tomorrowland overhaul at Disneyland, changes to Star Wars lightsaber experiences, and the development of a third Haunted Mansion bar slated to open next year.
