A 17 July update added further chemical‑free ant‑nest tactics: copper strips, vinegar‑water sprays, gravel under paving stones and silicone sealing of home entry points, plus dried coffee grounds on lawns to confuse ants.

On 26 July the guidance on rats and moles was reinforced. Rat owners are urged to spot droppings, gnaw marks and ammonia odor, then deter rodents with strong scents such as turpentine, vinegar, mint oil or chili powder, while warning that misuse can cause animal pain and breach pest‑control regulations. Mole control respects legal protection; techniques focus on encouraging relocation by flattening mounds with water, gentle shovelling or installing physical barriers.

A 31 July briefing introduced additional snail‑capture methods—lettuce traps, coffee‑ground spreads and oatmeal barriers—and warned that certain house‑ant species (red‑backed house ant and brown trail ant) can damage structures by nesting in damp wood and insulation. Early detection and removal are advised to avoid costly repairs.
