Domestic abuse legal proceedings in Volos

An 82-year-old man in Volos is facing trial at the Volos Misdemeanor Court following allegations of domestic sexual abuse involving his minor granddaughter. The case emerged after the 17-year-old informed her mother of non-consensual acts that occurred when she was younger. The investigation also includes allegations that the man slapped the granddaughter during a childhood dispute.

The situation has been complicated by intense family conflict. The minor’s father, who was previously arrested and placed under restrictive orders for threats and physical violence, reportedly refused to believe the allegations. He was brought before the court for violating these terms after appearing in the family courtyard; while he claimed he was delivering medication to his mother, his wife contested this, stating he claimed he was simply tired and had nowhere else to sleep.

The Volos Court of First Instance Prosecutor has ordered a preliminary examination for the 82-year-old. As the legal proceedings continue, a child psychologist is expected to examine the teenager. Amidst the ongoing investigation, the parents have requested criminal mediation to prevent further prosecution, noting that the children have expressed a desire for their father’s return.
