Dominican Republic agricultural drone training initiative

Overview

The Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA), in coordination with Community Technological Centers (CTC), has initiated drone technology training for farmers in the Dominican Republic as part of a broader modernization program.

Initial training sessions, such as the ‘Technology in the Field’ event in Montecristi, focused on teaching rice producers and local farmers how to use drones for crop management, fumigation, and real-time monitoring. These tools are intended to optimize resources by saving water, fuel, and time while allowing for more precise fertilization.

Following these sessions, FEDA announced plans to expand the initiative to all major rice-growing regions in the country. In partnership with the company FARMDRONS, the program aims to strengthen the rural economy by introducing precision agricultural tools to various provinces, including La Vega and San Juan de la Maguana.
