Dominican Republic social and cybersecurity initiatives

Overview

Dominican Republic institutions have established new agreements to improve social services and digital security. The Supérate Social Development Directorate and the National Cybersecurity Center, under the National Intelligence Directorate (DNI), signed a pact to protect sensitive data related to social protection subsidies through technical training and incident response measures.

Additionally, the Social Policy Cabinet and the National Drug Council (CND) entered a collaboration to address psycho-addiction and promote social inclusion. This initiative integrates prevention and support mechanisms into existing social programs, such as the Community Technological Centers and the Integral Development Center for Women, to assist vulnerable populations.

Expanding on these coordination efforts, the Cabinet of Women, Adolescents, and Girls, led by Minister Gloria Reyes, has worked with over twenty institutions to enhance responses to violence and social protection. A significant development in this area is the interoperability between the National Emergency and Security 9-1-1 System and the Ministry of Women’s ‘212 emergency line’, a move designed to facilitate better data exchange and coordinated responses to cases of violence.
