Rail services on the Donautalbahn line have experienced significant disruptions due to infrastructure issues. Initial reports indicated service suspensions between Donauwörth and Lauingen caused by track defects, alongside bridge maintenance in Neuoffingen. Replacement bus services were implemented to mitigate these interruptions.

Subsequent reports expanded the scope of the issues, noting disruptions between Ingolstadt and Ulm involving canceled trains, delays, and failures of level crossings, signals, and switches. Agilis CEO Axel Hennighausen attributed these frequent malfunctions to outdated signal boxes. In the Augsburg network district, it was noted that of 134 signal boxes, 76 still rely on outdated technology requiring manual operation, while only one utilizes state-of-the-art digital technology.
