Drakeo the Ruler wrongful death lawsuit
Overview
The estate of rapper Drakeo the Ruler has been engaged in a wrongful death lawsuit following his fatal stabbing backstage at the Once Upon a Time music festival in December 2021. The litigation alleges security and operational failures by various entities.
In late September 2026, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled that Live Nation Worldwide Inc. and C3 Presents LLC were not required to disclose financial records to the estate. The judge found the estate had not demonstrated a substantial probability of prevailing on claims of malice or oppression necessary to seek punitive damages.
By mid-October 2026, Darrylene Corniel, the rapper’s mother and estate administrator, reached a settlement with Live Nation and several other companies, including Hollywood Elite Security, Inc. and C3 Presents. While the financial terms were not disclosed, the dismissal of the case is contingent upon the “satisfactory completion of specified terms to be performed within 45 days.” Legal claims brought by the rapper’s son and brother remain scheduled for trial.
