Drug-impaired bus driver traffic accidents

Overview

Reports have emerged of separate traffic accidents involving bus drivers who tested positive for controlled substances.

In Taipei, a collision occurred between a route 11 bus and a private car on Xinglong Road. Following the crash, both drivers tested positive for drugs; the bus driver tested positive for marijuana, while the car driver tested positive for amphetamine. Both individuals were detained for further investigation.

In Petaling Jaya, a tour bus driver in his 40s tested positive for methamphetamine following a multi-vehicle accident involving seven vehicles. The bus lost control and triggered a chain reaction collision. The driver, who reportedly has 29 prior criminal records, is being investigated under the Road Transport Act 1987.
