Drug-related criminal sentencing in Vietnam
Overview
Recent judicial proceedings in Vietnam have resulted in significant prison sentences for individuals involved in methamphetamine-related crimes.
In Hai Phong, the Hai Phong City People's Court sentenced Nguyễn Thành Long, known as Tiến “bịp”, and Nguyễn Văn Tuấn to eight years in prison for organizing the illegal use of methamphetamine. The sentencing followed a police intervention during a livestreamed drug session at Long’s residence, where authorities seized crystal meth and related paraphernalia.
In a separate case, the People's Court of Huế sentenced Trần Thị Ngọc Linh and Nguyễn Văn Toàn to 40 years in prison for the illegal sale of narcotics. The pair was convicted of conspiring to sell approximately 2kg of methamphetamine. The arrest occurred in Huế after Linh was intercepted by police while waiting to complete a transaction involving nearly 1,944 grams of the substance.
