Drug seizure and lamb discovery in Glasgow

Overview

In April 2023, police intercepted a vehicle on the M74 motorway near Glasgow during a routine check. Officers discovered cocaine and heroin valued at approximately £14,000. Alongside the narcotics, a small lamb named Pablo was found in the back seat eating snacks.

The occupants, John McNeil and Lindsey Sangster, claimed they had rescued the animal from the road, but it was later identified as belonging to a farm in Motherwell.

McNeil was found guilty of possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to supply. He was sentenced to 300 hours of unpaid work and a six-month home curfew. Sangster, who admitted to driving under the influence of drugs, received 100 hours of unpaid work and an 18-month driving ban. Reports indicate an arrest warrant was issued for Sangster following a failure to appear at her sentencing hearing.
