Drug seizures and laboratory dismantling in Lithuania
Overview
Lithuanian law enforcement has conducted significant operations targeting large-scale narcotics distribution and production.
In the Raseiniai district, police arrested a resident of the Kaunas district following the seizure of approximately 112 kilograms of illegal substances. The haul included 97 kilograms of cannabis, 10 kilograms of cocaine, and 5 kilograms of hashish. The suspect faces charges related to the illegal possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute.
Subsequently, the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau dismantled an industrial-scale drug laboratory in the Vilnius district, described as one of the largest discovered in the Baltic states. The facility produced drugs for export to Belgium, Czechia, the Netherlands, and Germany. Authorities seized over 500 kilograms of methamphetamine, 300 kilograms of amphetamine, 4.5 kilograms of synthetic cathinone, and roughly 3,000 liters of the precursor chemical BMK.
Four individuals, including three Lithuanian citizens and a Dutch national identified as the primary organizer, have been charged. The wholesale value of the confiscated substances is estimated to exceed two million euros, though street-level value could be significantly higher. Investigations revealed an international procurement network, with laboratory equipment and chemicals sourced from China, India, and various European countries. During the raid, police also recovered €200,000 in cash and 380 hydrogen cylinders originating from China. Preliminary estimates suggest the seized substances represent over 4 million single doses.
