Drug trafficking enforcement in India

Overview

Law enforcement agencies in India have conducted separate operations targeting international drug trafficking networks.

In mid-August, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) dismantled an inter-state network following raids in Mumbai and Greater Noida. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 4,738 grams of methamphetamine valued at ₹9.4 crore. Three foreign nationals, including one Israeli man, were arrested, and authorities are investigating potential international links and manufacturing sites.

Later in August, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Mumbai Zonal Unit intercepted an international trafficking route between Indore and Mumbai. During a stop in Mira Road, officials arrested a Kenyan woman and a Nigerian national after discovering 547 grams of cocaine and methaqualone. Investigations into the source and destination of these narcotics are ongoing.
