Drug trafficking enforcement in northern India

Overview

Law enforcement agencies in northern India have conducted separate operations targeting heroin trafficking.

In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) arrested Jabbar Khan while he was preparing to transport heroin to Dehradun. Authorities seized contraband valued at approximately 2.60 crore rupees. The suspect indicated he worked with his brother to purchase heroin at low prices for distribution to contacts in Uttarakhand.

In Delhi, the Shahdara district police arrested a 22-year-old man, identified as Sohil, near Shastri Park. Officers recovered 60.52 grams of heroin during the interception. Following the arrest, police registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and initiated raids at suspected hideouts after the suspect identified a supplier.
