Dutch drug-related criminal prosecutions

Overview

Legal proceedings are underway in the Netherlands involving various criminal activities linked to the drug trade.

In one case, the Dutch Public Prosecution Service has requested prison sentences of 10 years and 6.5 years for two men associated with the illegal website Slaappillen.net. The defendants are accused of operating a million-euro business selling dangerous medications, including counterfeit oxycodone contaminated with nitazene. Prosecutors noted that nitazene has been linked to at least 13 deaths in the country.

Separately, a real estate entrepreneur and another individual are facing legal consequences for allegedly using commercial properties to host large-scale drug laboratories in the Overijssel and Drenthe regions. Prosecutors claim the arrangement was part of a scheme to artificially inflate property values to secure larger loans. Additionally, in Deventer, a commercial building was ordered closed for three months following a police raid that uncovered synthetic drug production materials and stolen property.
