Dutch labor union negotiations
Overview
The FNV trade union is engaged in various negotiations regarding social security and labor agreements in the Netherlands.
In early October, FNV chairman Hans Spekman stated the union does not feel obligated to meet specific budget cut targets during discussions with the government. While the union is open to discussing improvements to unemployment and disability benefits, they are not working toward a predetermined savings mandate. Prime Minister Rob Jetten described initial meetings as “ontzettend constructief”, though substantive negotiations regarding disability benefits were still pending.
By late October, a different branch, FNV Finance, issued an ultimatum to ABN Amro following a deadlock in collective labor agreement negotiations. The union is demanding higher annual wage increases and more flexible hybrid work policies, specifically opposing a mandate to spend half of working time in the office.
