Dylan Stewart disciplinary suspension
Overview
South Carolina edge rusher Dylan Stewart has been issued a one-game suspension by the University of South Carolina and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) following a game against Alabama.
The disciplinary action follows an incident during a 49-18 loss where Stewart punched Alabama tight end Josh Ford in the helmet. SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey characterized the contact as ‘egregious’, noting it carried a “serious risk of injury”.
In addition to the physical altercation, Stewart was involved in sideline outbursts, including heated exchanges with head coach Shane Beamer and assistant coaches. Coach Beamer expressed embarrassment over the conduct, stating it did not meet the program’s standards of integrity and accountability. Stewart is set to miss the upcoming game against Kentucky.
