D3 Publisher and Sandlot have announced updates and new releases for the Earth Defense Force series.

Sandlot announced Earth Defense Force 6. 2: Invaders from Another World for PlayStation 5, an optimized version of the 2022 title. The game aims to provide an “extreme sense of desperation” by doubling the number of enemies on screen and includes new missions and previously exclusive DLC content. A release in Japan is confirmed for 2027.

Additionally, Earth Defense Force 5 is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8, 2026. This version will feature quality-of-life upgrades backported from Earth Defense Force 6, such as integrated localized subtitles and expanded button mapping.
