Eastern European agricultural strategic planning

Romania and Moldova are initiating multi-annual strategic programs for their respective agricultural sectors covering the 2026–2030 period.

In Romania, the government approved the Strategic Program for the Aquaculture Sector (PSSA). This initiative focuses on the modernization of the sector through the assessment of aquatic basins, rehabilitation of hydrotechnical constructions, and the modernization of fish hatcheries. The program also aims to improve genetic breeding stocks, expand processing capacities, and assist fish farms in adapting to climate change through a two-stage implementation process.

In Moldova, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry convened the National Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the Strategic Program of Agricultural Policy (PSPA). The committee, which includes public authorities and farmer organizations, is tasked with evaluating progress and preparing for 2026 funding calls. Discussions have centered on developing applicant guides, establishing eligibility criteria, and managing the redistribution of financial resources within the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Environment.
