Economic activity in Bushehr Province

Bushehr Province has established itself as a significant economic hub in Iran, contributing approximately 8 percent to the national GDP. The province ranks among the highest in economic volume in the country, trailing only Tehran and Khuzestan.

Customs data indicates that over the first five months of the current year, the province exported 5,101,000 tons of goods valued at $2.364 billion to 32 different countries. The Pars Special Economic Energy Zone was the primary driver of this trade, accounting for 87 percent of the total export value. Key commodities include petrochemical products, liquid gases, cement, and seafood. Notably, shrimp exports saw a significant increase, rising 176 percent in value compared to the previous year. Major trading partners include China, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Turkey, and India, with Qatar also emerging as a notable partner for food and construction materials.

To support this commercial activity, Bushehr maintains 14 customs offices, the second-highest number in Iran. The province also hosts a major maritime presence, with over 1,980 traditional vessels operating in the region.
