Economic and administrative development in Hidalgo

The state of Hidalgo continues to pursue economic and administrative development strategies under the administration of Governor Julio Menchaca Salazar. Key initiatives include the implementation of the Alternate Labor Inspection System (SAIL) to prevent corruption and assist with labor compliance, alongside significant public investment in the agricultural sector.

Recent reports indicate that the state has generated over 39,545 formal jobs over a four-year period, with 20,000 placements facilitated through state labor services. These efforts include labor mobility programs that have placed workers in Germany, the United States, Canada, and Spain.

Agricultural investment has seen a substantial increase, with the budget tripling from 229 million pesos in 2022 to over 721 million pesos. This funding supports Hidalgo’s national leadership in barley, wool, and pulque maguey production.

Infrastructure remains a priority, with major projects identified including the AIFA-Pachuca and Mexico-Querétaro trains, the Water Plan, the Tula River sanitation project, and the Pachuca-Huejutla-Tamazunchale highway. The state has also secured over 147 billion pesos in committed private investment, projected to create approximately 191,000 new jobs. To support its status as a top tourism destination, the state is working to professionalize service providers and is updating the State Development Plan 2022-2028 to align public policy with regional growth.
