Ecuador Correísmo election alliances

Overview

In late July 2026, the Revolution Ciudadana (RC) movement, still under a nine‑month suspension, was scrambling for a vehicle to contest the imminent sectional elections in Los Ríos province. Party leaders considered two local lists – Movimiento CRECER (List 100) and Poder Fluminense (List 91) – while talks with other groups such as Unidad Popular and the Ecuadorian Socialist Party stalled, and potential mayoral candidates rejected alliance overtures.

By early August, RC shifted from exploratory talks to a concrete, limited electoral pact. The movement signed an agreement with the Partido Socialista Ecuatoriano (PSE) and Unidad Popular (UP) that confines RC participation to six provinces, focusing on the Quito mayoral race and the Pichincha prefectural contest. The pact places RC candidates on PSE lists in those areas, while UP will run independently elsewhere.

The progression shows RC moving from uncertainty and fragmented local negotiations toward a formalized, region‑specific coalition ahead of the November 2026 sectional elections.
