Ecuador IESS service expansion 2026

In July 2026 the Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social (IESS) intensified its citizen‑service operations. On 25 July, IESS held an extraordinary service day at its main Quito centre, offering more than 30 in‑person procedures such as data updates, employer key generation, affiliation services, pensioner certificates, and subsidy processing. The event required advance appointments and provided priority assistance through a dedicated hotline.

A few days later, on 30 July, President Daniel Noboa inaugurated a new permanent IESS building in Portoviejo, Manabí. The $9.2 million complex replaces temporary offices that had been used since the 2016 earthquake and will serve roughly 820,000 affiliates, retirees and employers. It centralises services including labor‑history queries, reserve‑fund withdrawals, unemployment insurance, loan applications and employer data updates, and is slated to open to the public on 3 August 2026.
