Ecuador maritime connectivity and logistics developments
Overview
DP World has launched the AX4 shipping service at Ecuador’s Port of Posorja. Operated by Ocean Network Express and Hyundai Merchant Marine, the weekly service provides a direct connection to Asian markets to support the export of temperature-sensitive goods like shrimp, bananas, and broccoli.
To complement maritime efficiency, the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters (FEDEXPOR) introduced the ‘Barómetro Naviero’, an online platform to monitor logistics costs and shipping performance. The initiative aims to address high logistical costs in Ecuador, which currently represent 17.9% of export sales.
