Ecuadorian economic and entrepreneurship support initiatives

Overview

Ecuador has initiated several programs aimed at fostering financial literacy and economic support for entrepreneurs and agricultural producers.

In the Bolívar province, BanEcuador launched a financial education program for youth, focusing on skills such as savings, budget management, and responsible credit use. The institution has also expanded its lending reach; following the distribution of over USD 109 million through its ‘Crédito 7x7’ line for agricultural and aquaculture sectors, BanEcuador has disbursed more than USD 9.1 million to 336 beneficiaries in the transport sector during 2026. This transport financing is divided among three lines: ‘Impulso Transporte’ for operational needs, ‘BanTransporte’ for vehicle purchases, and ‘Nuevo Transporte’, which supports a government scrappage plan for renewing old vehicles with fossil fuel or electric technology.

Entrepreneurship training and rural development initiatives also continue to progress. The seventh edition of the ‘Emprendamos Junt@s’ program, implemented by Junior Achievement Ecuador and supported by The Coca-Cola Foundation, recently graduated 2,700 entrepreneurs in Quito, providing specialized training in business models and pitching. Additionally, the Agrojoven program, supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), held a business matchmaking event in Quito. The event connected 300 young rural entrepreneurs from all 24 provinces with various companies to showcase products like specialty coffee, honey, and chocolate, with organizers targeting USD 100,000 in preliminary purchase pre-agreements to improve employment quality for youth under 30.
