Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2026
Overview
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo announced its 2026 edition in early August, outlining a program titled “A Call to Gather” that would feature more than 800 performers from the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, New Zealand, Qatar and other nations. Organisers highlighted the event’s role in cultural exchange and noted the Royal Air Force as the lead service.
Two days later the Tattoo opened on 7 August, drawing over 8,600 spectators to the Castle Esplanade. The show ran nightly through 29 August, showcasing the massed pipes and drums, international military bands and a salute by Edinburgh’s Lord Provost in his final appearance. The opening confirmed the scale and international participation described in the earlier preview.
