Educational and infrastructure administration issues in Peru

Educational and infrastructure administration in Peru and the Dominican Republic has been marked by financial disputes and allegations of procurement irregularities.

In Peru, the Ministry of Education canceled a warehouse rental contract in Ate following allegations of overpricing and substandard facility conditions. The ministry suspended a US$108,000 advance payment and signaled potential legal action regarding collusion. Subsequently, subcontractors at a highway construction site in Tacna staged protests, claiming the Consorcio Vial Sama owes more than S/ 3 million in unpaid invoices.

In the Dominican Republic, the government initially allocated 2,000 million pesos to settle debts with school infrastructure contractors. However, the National Institute of Student Welfare (INABIE) later faced allegations of irregularities concerning school lunch supply contracts. Legal representatives for several companies claimed that firms previously disqualified for failing to meet requirements were awarded contracts totaling over RD$445 million, including one instance involving alleged false documentation.
