Educational orientation initiatives in Italy
Overview
Educational orientation initiatives are expanding across Italy to assist students transitioning from secondary school to higher education or vocational training. In Modena, the Provincial Orientation Fair is scheduled for October 3, 2026, at the Ferrari plant in Maranello. This collaboration between the Province of Modena and the Municipality of Maranello will host over 30 secondary schools within Ferrari’s production lines to discuss educational networks and employment opportunities. Simultaneously, INDIRE is conducting a national tour of the ‘Salone dello Studente’ (Student Fair) from October to December, visiting cities such as Carrara, Milan, Turin, Florence, Rome, Naples, and Bari. The program focuses on domestic and international opportunities, including Erasmus+ mobility, and hosts workshops on artificial intelligence, digital citizenship, cybersecurity, and gender equality.
New regional activities include the ‘Future Days 2026’ event in Turin, hosted by Stellantis at the Heritage Hub. Over 700 students from seven local institutes engaged in dialogue with industry leaders, including John Elkann and Santo Ficili, while touring facilities such as the Battery Technology Center and the Fiat Research Center. Other regional efforts include the Salone dell’Orientamento in Villafranca on October 24 and the Campus 2026 fair in Seregno on November 13-14.
Upcoming major events include the fifth edition of TrentinOrienta in Trento, scheduled for November 5-7, and the 35th edition of JOB&Orienta in Verona from November 25 to 28. Regarding the latter, Italian Undersecretary for Education Paola Frassinetti noted that national dropout rates have decreased from 11% to 7%, aided by an 8 million euro allocation for orientation activities and tutor roles.
