Egypt digital services and outsourcing sector growth

Egypt’s digital services and offshoring sector is experiencing significant growth and a strategic shift toward high-value services. In 2025, the sector generated approximately $5.2 billion in exports, driven by a transition from traditional call-center operations to specialized fields such as software development, data analysis, cloud services, and generative artificial intelligence.

The industry currently comprises 252 companies and 282 global delivery centers, employing over 195,000 specialists. While Cairo remains a primary center, Alexandria has emerged as a notable technology hub. Growth is being facilitated by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).

Building on this momentum, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi announced a target to reach $8 billion in outsourcing exports by 2028. The government’s strategy focuses on fostering an innovation-based digital economy by supporting startups and addressing challenges related to funding, market access, and talent acquisition through partnerships with the business community.
